Chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG has stopped developing RFID software and has transferred these activities to another company. As part of a management buyout announced last week, Infineon will transfer all of its RFID software activities, including patents, trademarks and licenses, to RF-iT Solutions GmbH. The companies agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Moving forward, Infineon will develop, produce and market RFID chips and inlays, which comprise chips, antennas and the connections in between. Newly established RF-iT will take over and continue to develop the You-r Open software, developed by Infineon. The software is designed to connect companies’ logistics IT systems to new RFID-supported logistics systems and to the entire RFID infrastructure of readers, PCs and IT networks.
